Eques is, to put it plainly, a real bitch. She does things on her terms, and refuses to bow down to anyone. She stands up for herself, and isn't shy about telling other pokemon what she really thinks. She respects Hermione as a trainer if only because Hermione seems to know what she's doing, and she's seen her lay down the law with the annoying cats.

Hermione received Eques as a baby Skrelp from her friend Ivy. Eques only battles when she feels like it, and hasn't been a consistent part of Hermione's team. However after the incident at the Pokemon Prom (in which Eques also evolved), Eques is infuriated that those things dictated the battle, and has sworn to get revenge.
